Ministries

And in the church God has appointed…those with gifts of administration” (1 Cor. 12:28, NIV)

Church Administration and treasury hold an office of vital importance to the success of the local church. Hence a need to have this department in place for efficient structures to serve God’s people better.

Its main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Responsible for payment of all bills and invoices
  • Performs or oversees all of the financial record-keeping functions
  • Prepares the financial reports for the church board and provides appropriate financial information to the church
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual church budget
  • Offers good management for a church’s limited resources.
  • Filling church documents
  • Manages day to day operations of the office

Psalm 103 v 1 says “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” It is awesome to consider that we have the ability to bless our creator and time after in the scripture we are exhorted to do just that. We bless Him through our praise and worship.

PRAISE: Praise is an expression of admiration and appreciation. When we praise someone, we tell them how wonderful we think and know they are, or how great their accomplishments are. It is the same with our Lord. Praise has to do with acknowledging God’s character and power. Psalm 63:3,4 says “Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands”.

WHY DO WE PRAISE GOD?

Because of who He is. Psalm 47:6,7 says “Sing praises to God, sing praises, sing praises to our king, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing Him a psalm of praise.”

Because of what He does. Ps 103:1-5 says “Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits — 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

WHO IS TO PRAISE GOD?

Those who seek God. Ps 22:26 says “……they who seek the Lord will praise him….”

Everything that has breath. Ps 150:6 says “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.”

WHEN DO WE PRAISE GOD?

At all times. Ps 34:1 says “will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.”

In every circumstance. 1 Thess 5:16-18 says “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

WHERE ARE WE TO PRAISE GOD?

Surrounded by God’s people, non-believer or in your closet. Heb 2:12 says  “I will declare your name to my brothers; in the presence of the congregation I will sing your praises.”

Among all nations. Ps 57:9 says “I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.”

On our beds. Ps 63:4-6 says “I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.”

WORSHIP: Worship is an expression of love and adoration. It is possible to admire someone and appreciate what they do without being in love with Him. Worship is telling God how much you love him. It is expressed by giving our whole heart and life to Him.

Mark 12:33 says “To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

John 4:23-24 says “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

The greatest thing one can ever do in this life or eternity is to worship God. Determine today to be a true praise and worshiper and make this your supreme goal in life. Teach someone else this vital way of life in Jesus’ name.

The ministry of Ushering consists of the church ushers and greeters. This is a very important ministry as the ushers and greeters serve as the FRONTLINE. Ushers are the first official representatives seen when church members or visitors enter the church. The ushers and greeters set the tone for the service as they present the character and spirit of the church when they arrive. USHERS are expected to welcome all church members before the start of the service. They are the smiley and cheerful people that you meet at the entrance of the door, welcoming and blessing you each Sunday morning when you arrive.

Evangelism, the communication of the gospel message, includes a warning, an explanation, and a call. It includes an explanation of God’s remedy for sin—the gospel (Acts 8:29-35; Romans 3:21-26; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

Mission: To gather groups of people who meet in designated homes on a regular basis to enhance the spiritual growth of its members

Home Cell Groups normally comprise of 6-12 members. Just like the cells of the human body which are designed to constantly grow and multiply, so too are the Christian home cell groups. The primary purpose of these home cells is to grow and multiply the body of Christ -church. Home cells also ought to be evangelical, ministering to people in their locality. They must create a conducive environment to both believers and non-believers to come together and fellowship ultimately reaching out into their communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mission: To further the mission of the Church as it carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our visually-driven, ever-changing world through the use of technology and media, and to equip other ministries of the church to use digital and electronic media as worship and outreach tools.

Mission:  To disciple the newly saved into mature all rounded Christians who can stand for their faith in all situations.

We do this by teaching the basic truths of the Bible. We also do follow-ups on the newly-saved and organize and conduct water baptism.

Our discipleship classes are held every Sunday from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.We have a manual syllabus which is intended to take six months. We have about eighteen brethren who volunteered to assist in achieving our goal.

Mission: To serve church members and community

This department extends its services not only to the church members but even to the community. We identify the needs of people and meet them to share kindness and love. This could be clothing, toiletry or food groceries after an assessment to confirm the state of an individual concerned or their family. The church and the community can support this department by giving clothing, food and toiletry.

Mission: To take care of the welfare of the registered church members.

This ministry is about supporting each other. When a member loses certain members of the family we have an obligation to attend the funerals and give certain financial support. These are parents, spouse and children. We give financial support to the family of the departed member to assist with funeral arrangements and when a member loses a spouse, a child or parents.

Mission: To serve as the mother body of the following: men-fellowship, sisters-fellowship, and couple-fellowship

The Fellowship Department is tasked with ensuring that there is synergy in the operations of the various structures obtaining in the church. Failure to ensure this will result in silos with obvious consequences to the organizational effectiveness and operational efficiencies of the said.  To this effect, the department sat down with all the structures in the church to draw the yearly calendar for the 2015/2016 plan year which commenced on april 1, 2015. The department will also, in partnership with the treasury  facilitate a workshop for the members of various committees to be drilled  on basic administration procedures such as record keeping, finances and administration.
The department , also, at the close of the 2014/2015 plan year provided a review of the performance of the departments within the church for presentation at the Annual General Meeting which was held on March 29, 2015. The review painted a clean bill of health with minor glitches that needed fixing such as pockets of apathy by some members to the activities of their groupings.
